As STUCO members, we wanted students to be kind to everyone. As a result, we devoted our last month's spirit day to showing kindness. This was accomplished by distributing out bingo charts with ideas of how to show kindness. If a student completed bingo, STUCO passed out chocolate as a little reward.
Ms. Ballestreros's "Roots and Shoots" ASA also focused on kindness as one of the ways to make a positive impact on the world. They created a Kindness Tree which you can see on the wall of the landing on the way up to second floor.
The hope is to inspire all students to demonstrate kindness at all moments throughout the day... every day. This is an important skill to develop. As a PYP candidate school, several of the attitudes of becoming an IB learner are being empathetic and showing tolerance. This will assist us in becoming more open minded which is one of our learner profiles. While we continue this school year and continue on into the future, we know that we personally will remember our spirit day of "kindness day" and try my best to be kind always.
