On November 11, sixteen fifth graders and fourteen sixth graders traveled from SIS to AISG in Guangzhou to compete in the Math Olympiad. In this competition, teams of four were first given a 'long problem' to solve in one hour. Then they had another five tests with five questions each where they had twenty minutes to solve them. The whole point of the competition was to get students excited about math, and our kids were excited! They also represented the school well in the way they encouraged one another and the other teams. To top things off, SIS walked away with 1st and 2nd place for fifth grade and 1st place for sixth grade. Well done, Geckos!
