FAL (French As an Additional Language) Programme

Students participating in the French as Additional Language program (FAL) at SIS are being taught by French government certified teachers who also are in the French International Program. French lessons cover around 180 minutes during the school week from KG to G4 and 225 minutes in Grade 5 in which the students learn the language abilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

FAL (French As an Additional Language) Programme

FAL students are beginners to French language or have a very basic level of communication in French.

The acquisition of the French language will happen in phases. Students will start by developing listening and speaking skills. Basic reading and writing skills are also introduced. This is combined with the culture as well, which is an important component in the program.

This FAL program is aligned with Middle school French option program to give a clear continuity and opportunity for the students to continue their language acquisition journey throughout their education at SIS.

PYP Integration in FAL (French as an Additional Language) Program

At SIS, we share the philosophy of the International Baccalaureate (IB), and therefore integrate the PYP (Primary Years Program) framework into the FAL program. We ensure to provide an inquiry-based learning which will enable the students to learn the language and develop their approaches to learning as well as the IB attributes to become a world citizen.
