SIS faculty and staff are committed to being part of a collaborative learning community.
Hailing from over 21 different countries, each member of our 119 strong international teaching staff brings a unique perspective when sharing ideas on teaching and learning. Dedicated to improving the experience of our students, our educators share their best practices with each other both informally with regular dialogue, or formally, during teacher-led professional learning days.
Our professional community also devotes time to share innovative teaching and learning throughout the international community. Teachers regularly present their craft at external conferences and within school-based seminars. We have a strong connection to the ISS Edu, which helps us to connect to a wider community. Teacher blogs and the #SISRocks twitter feed are full of examples of great student learning.
SIS students learn a standards-based curriculum, enhanced by a strong emphasis on active and personalized learning, literacy, and learning innovation. We are a fully authorized Primary Years Programme and International Baccalaureate World School and are accredited by WASC. Our PYP and IB Diploma Programme are well established. For our work in learning innovation and technology we have been recognized as an Apple Distinguished School and as “School of the Year” by the 21st Century Learning group. The school emphasizes student communication and thinking skills, personal management and collaborative abilities, while emphasizing global citizenship.
