ES Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

We are fast approaching the last week of school. It's been a great first year for myself, as the not so new Principal, and for us as a family. It is an experience that we look forward to building on next year. As an Elementary School we have firmly committed to the International Baccalaureate Primary Year Programme. This has been one of our key drivers in moving our school further forward in how we approach our teaching and learning within the school.

We have redefined ourselves as one Primary school and look forward to the challenges and the numerous benefits that this presents us over the coming years.

As always, I am in appreciation of our amazing faculty of dedicated teachers and teaching assistants who work each and every day to ensure that our students are safe, happy and developing the many skills that will allow them to grow up to be the future generation of our world. Our support staff that ensure the school runs smoothly are invaluable and are my instant source of information about pretty much anything and everything.

A sad farewell to those that are moving on this year.
  • Anton Musker who has been my fellow Brit and understood my humour. We've shared many stories about the value and pitfalls of the English National Curriculum.
  • Doris King who for many years has worked tirelessly in shaping our Chinese language department.
  • Kathy Diaz who has contributed tremendously in developing our school First Lego League and her passion for robotics will be greatly missed.
  • Matt Johnson without whom my first year at SIS would have been too great a challenge. He has been level headed, always maintaining his composure and allowing us to make well thought through collaborative decisions to better the school.

Finally, Zàijiàn to all our students and families who are leaving SIS this year. We wish you success wherever you end up and trust that you will keep your experiences at SIS close to your heart.

Best wishes for wonderful safe summer.

Mr Kanabar
