With only one week to go before heading to the FLL Competition in Shanghai, the SIS Robotics Team showed off their skills with a full competition rehearsal last Saturday. The "Diving Dolpha-Bots" and the "Lego Leaguers" went head to head in a competitive, yet fun, spirited match before an audience of parents and friends. Each team made three presentations before friendly judges, their coaches and special guest coach, Christopher O'Connor. They also raced against the clock to complete as many "missions" as possible before the 2 1/2 minute deadline.
Students have taken what they learned from their successful experience in Guangzhou and are refining their game. Students have reached out to the community to learn more from an attorney, Mr. Cao, a veterinarian, Dr. Pan, an editor from Shekou Daily, Kiko Song, and Shenzhen Volunteer Rescue founder, Kate Brzezinska, and robotics expert, Mr. Lee.
The Lego Leaguers set up a donation place to raise money for the SZ Volunteer Animal Rescue and in one day received 1464 RMB, enough to vaccinate 14 dogs. If you would like to make a donation to help the student's efforts to help the dogs of Shenzhen, a donation box has been set up at the Parkside welcome desk. WeChat is also accepted by scanning the barcode and making a note that you are donating through "SIS".
The dog in the photo is "Cookie". She is 3 1/2 months old, is vaccinated. She was rescued from the wet market. She needs a "forever home". If interested in adopting Cookie, just scan the barcode. You can also contact Mrs. Diaz at: email@example.com
Wish the team well as they embark on their next adventure in First Lego League Robotics in Shanghai this weekend!
